Peterborough’s monthly poetry slam will be happening Thursday January 10th at The Spill Coffee Bar at 414 George st. N.
Sign-up will start at 7:30 sharp. Then the slam will get started around 8. The slam competition is open to the first ten poets who sign up at the beginning of the night and arrive with two poems to perform. Two rounds of one poem per poet will be scored by random judges from the audience. A time limit of three minutes is encouraged for each poem, but will not be enforced. Remember - the points are not the point, the poetry is the point!
Following the friendly competition, the stage will open up to anybody else who wants to read/poeticize/sing/perform/dance/make us laugh/orate/play an instrument/do magic tricks/etc; poetry (your own, anybody's) encouraged!
Writers of all sorts from seasoned slammers to first-time readers are welcome, as well as curious and supportive spectators. First time readers are especially encouraged.
Anu will the hosting the evening, with ke as the sacrificial poet to start off the night!
This is PWYC, open to all ages, licensed, barrier-free and queer-positive.
