Update May 22:
A proposal is pending positively at SpoCan (Spoken Word Canada) to organize a Peterborough/Windsor/London slam team of five poets for the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word in Calgary in the fall. Each city will hold semi-finals; the winner from each city will automatically get a spot on the team. The second and third place finalists of each city will then go to Toronto later in the month to compete at a finals night for the last two spots on the team, where there will be performances, features, and a huge slam crowd.
Updates about the proposal will be posted here, and on the facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=9543653748).
For more information about the semi-finals, the team, what being on the team entails, etc;, please e-mail ptbopoetryslam@gmail.com
For more information on SpoCan and the festival, please visit:

THIS THURSDAY MAY 8th, the Next Round - the FOUND ROUND
THIS THURSDAY at the Spill, at 8pm is the next round of the PTBO poetry slam and spoken open stage. This time things will be a little bit different, the Found Round!
This was originally going to be called the "LAST MINUTE SLAM" due to the fact that it is THIS Thursday, but I figured that was a little bit too self-deprecating.
Due to the last minute nature of this announcement and the opportunity for awesomeness, the stage will be opened up for YOU to perform whatever YOU think should be heard.
Got a practiced soliloquy hiding in your closet? An underappreciated impersonation? A scornful letter to an ex-lover they will never read? Extra points for making us laugh until we cry and cry until we laugh.
Bring Your Voices & dead poets' words, love letters, diary entries, newspaper clippings, eulogies, science projects, fashion magazines & your own fresh or forgotten poems.
Thursday is perfect for “non-poets” who want to perform, pros who want to try something new, or those still a little too nervous to perform their own stuff .
licensed. all ages. pwyc.
This should be a riot.
